Work

I finished my Master of Arts in Psychedelics and Consciousness Studies at the University of Ottawa at the end of July, along with my practicum with Psychedelia-Stiftung.

I have been hanging out with Psymposia, the only organization I’m aware of doing actual autocritique in the field of psychedelic studies, for a few months. I’m helping them with tech stuff and chatting on the podcast.

I spun off a studio this week from elliotec: elliodelics, software for the psychedelic industry specifically. elliotec isn’t going anywhere.

I did a complete rewrite of The Consciousness Library, along with a round of content and data updates to the research database underneath it. It’s live now and in good shape. If that name is new to you: we did a rebrand — Mindscape Collective is now The Consciousness Library.

Self

Since the last update, I’ve been spending the vast majority of my time in and around my home. We had a month-long trip to Europe planned for the summer that got canceled due to… unforeseen circumstances.

Despite the occasional cabin fever, I’ve been enjoying it. These past 6 months have been the least I’ve traveled in over a decade, including during Covid. Pros and cons. Lots of family time, chillin, workin on computer stuff, you know.

This probably wont change in the near future, so I should probably find something fun and productive to do while generally stationary. I’ve been playing more guitar lately I guess so that’s cool.

Reading

I had to read quite a lot for the master’s program. But I still made time for my own reading. A few books I’m going through:

Now that school is done I expect this to pick up a lot.

This website

This site just got rebuilt too, from a 12-year old Middleman project to Astro - you’re looking at it. Last update here said the old setup was “tough to justify a change” and that I wouldn’t. So much for that. I’ll write a post about it soon!
